David Narveson wins at Eagle Pointe

Borden, Vickers win division titles

David Narveson Simonton’s David Narveson bested the field at Eagle Pointe Golf Club with an even-par score of 71-71-142 to take the overall title in a May 11-12 Bridgestone Golf Southern Texas PGA Senior Series tournament.

Narveson took home $300 for winning the overall competition in the tournament and $550 for winning the Senior Division.

Houston’s Steve Parker was the overall and Senior Division runner-up, posting a score of 72-72—144, good for $430 in winnings. Third place went to Steve Trafton of Austin, who went 76-69—145 for a $350 check.

Amateurs Juan Salcedo of The Woodlands and Ronald Kilby of McAllen finished in fourth and fifth place, respectively, in the Senior Division. Salcedo won a $280 merchandise certificate for his 72-74—146 effort, while Kilby finished at 76-73—149 for a $250 merchandise certificate.

Sammy Borden of Spring won the tournament’s Super Senior Division and $480 for his 36-hole total of 69-77—146. He was followed in second place by David Faulkner of Humble, who earned $400 for his posting of 73-74—147. Al Flores of Houston finish third at 77-72—149 and won $350.

Austin amateur Tom Vickers earned a merchandise certificate of $390 for winning the tournament’s Veteran Division with a score of 77-80—157. Another amateur, Houston’s John McDonald, finished at 77-82—159, good for second place in the Veteran Division and a merchandise certificate of $260.
